Lindau Programm

Founded in 2004, the Lindau Programme is a scholarship programme for outstanding doctoral students in China, jointly established by the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion (SGC) on behalf of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) in cooperation with the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings Foundation in Germany.
The SGC has been organizing the selection of candidates from China every year since 2004. In a two-stage process based on written application materials and interviews, a committee of Chinese and German expert reviewers selects up to 30 doctoral candidates nominated by first-class Chinese universities to participate in the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. In the run-up to the conference, the SGC organizes the one-week Lindau Tour, which focuses on subject-specific visits to renowned German universities and research institutions.
Over the past twenty years, more than 600 outstanding Chinese doctoral students have been supported by the Lindau Programme. Starting from 2024, the Lindau Program opens up to undergraduate students in China along with doctoral students, with up to 10 undergraduate students to be funded each year.
