The Sino-German Workshop on “Function-intergrated Smart Compliant Mechanism System” was successfully held at the C-building of Tongji University (Jiading Campus)/Zoom(online) from 10th to 12th October, 2020. The workshop was financially supported by the Sino-German Science Center and hosted by Tongji University, TU Dresden and Tianjin University. The workshop was presided by Prof. Yuan Xing (Tianjin University). Dr. Karin Zach (Sino-German Science Center), Dr. Lu Ding (Instruments Technology And Economy Institute，P.R. China), Prof. Yongming Bian (Dean of the School of Mechanical Engineering of Tongji University)， Prof. Niels Modler (TU Dresden), and Prof. Song Lin (School of Mechanical Engineering of Tongji University) delivered speeches on the opening ceremony. More than 30 experts from 5 institutions in Germany and 8 institutions in China, and more than 40 teachers and students from School of Mechanical Engineering and Chinesisch Deutsches Hochschulkolleg of Tongji University have participated.
The workshop focused on the design, research and application of function- integrated smart compliant mechanism systems, covering the integration of intelligent materials, new theories and new technologies of intelligent mechanism systems, artificial intelligence and its steady state intelligent algorithm of technical system, digital drive and control and other supporting technologies, and combined with the application and new requirements of aerospace, surgical robots and industrial robots. The participants have communicated and discussed in-depth, from basic theories to design calculations, from single components to complete systems, and from experimental simulations to technical applications. The workshop was well received by the participants.
